Pour-Over Coffee
Pour over coffee has become a popular brewing method among coffee enthusiasts due to its ability to produce a clean, flavorful, and nuanced cup of coffee. In this blog post, we will explore the art of making pour over coffee and provide you with a step-by-step guide to help you achieve the perfect cup.
Ingredients:
- 20-25g of coffee beans
- 300-350ml of hot water (around 200-205°F)
Equipment:
- Pour-over coffee maker (e.g. Hario V60, Chemex, Kalita Wave)
- Coffee grinder
- Gooseneck kettle
- Filter paper
- Coffee cup or carafe
Instructions:
- Boil the water in the gooseneck kettle and let it cool for a minute or two until it reaches the desired temperature.
- Grind the coffee beans to a medium-fine consistency.
- Wet the filter paper and place it in the pour-over coffee maker.
- Place the coffee maker on top of your coffee cup or carafe.
- Add the ground coffee to the filter paper and shake gently to even out the coffee bed.
- Start pouring the hot water slowly and steadily over the coffee, starting from the center and spiraling outward until you've added about twice as much water as the amount of coffee you used (for example, if you used 20g of coffee, add 40ml of water).
- Allow the coffee to bloom for 30-45 seconds, then continue pouring the water in a slow and steady stream until you've added all the water.
- Let the coffee drip through the filter paper and into your cup or carafe. This should take about 2-4 minutes.
- Discard the used filter paper and coffee grounds.
- Enjoy your freshly brewed pour-over coffee!
Note: Adjust the amount of coffee and water according to your taste preferences. The ideal coffee-to-water ratio is usually around 1:15 or 1:16, but you can experiment with different ratios to find the one that suits your taste best.
